The Portugal Pavilion concept is strongly linked to the ocean, representing the country's historic connection with maritime exploration, resource sustainability and global interaction. Designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, it is made from thousands of recycled sea cables and fishing nets. This approach highlights the fundamental role that the sea has taken in the country's cultural and economic development, as well as its importance for the society of the future.

“Ocean, Blue Dialogue” is the main theme of Portugal's participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, reflecting its deep connection to the sea and commitment to a more sustainable future. For 184 days, this space, located in the “Empowering Lives” zone, will provide an immersive and dynamic experience that will explore the historical and contemporary relationship between Portugal and Japan.
